Spring Youth Guild Acting Workshops!

**All workshops include membership in the Youth Guild for the year. Youth Guild members will be eligible to audition for Schoolhouse Rock Live Jr. and/or Midsummer Night’s Dream this summer. Sign up for a class or check out the Youth Guild application for other ways to join!**

 

Cardboard Theatre Workshops! 

March 28 & 29 Saturday and Sunday

 

Time Travel Trouble

1:00-3:00 grades 1-5 Cost is $40

Students will write and perform their own scripts and learn the art of writing a great story as well as creating characters. Come explore your creative side and create your own props and set pieces from recycled cardboard, duct tape and art supplies. Students will share their work with an in class presentation at 2:45 on 3/29

 

Registration and payment must be made before by 3/20/20 and no refunds will be given after 3/20/20. If minimum enrollment is not met, class will be cancelled and refunds will be given. 

 

Captivating Commercials

3:15-5:15 grades 6-12 Cost is $40

Students will explore improvisation techniques, create characters, explore their creativity with cardboard and duct tape set pieces and props, and generally have a great time exploring the theatre. They will present their work with an in class presentation at 5:00 on 3/29

Scholarship

Paul and Addy Prior Memorial Scholarship Fund

 

SBCT will award at least one $500.00 college scholarship each year to a deserving SBCT Youth Guild member if there are any applicants. Details of qualifications and awards are stipulated on the application form and the ‘Judge’s Instruction’ form. Money awarded will be deposited with the appropriate school entity and must be used within one year of the award. If not used during this time, the money will be returned to the scholarship fund. In the event that there is no SBCT applicant, the award will be opened up to qualifying RRISD seniors.

 

The Artistic Director of Youth and Education is charged with raising money for this fund and will recommend three persons to judge the applications for board approval. In the event of a conflict of interest, the President shall appoint another board member to serve as a replacement.
