Summer Shows FAQ

1. Who can audition for Sam Bass Youth Guild Summer shows?

 

Anyone may audition, but all cast members will be expected to join the youth guild by the 3rd rehearsal date for the show.

 

2.  How do I join Youth Guild?

 

It’s easy!  There are several ways to join.  After completing one of the following qualifying activities, just fill out an application and turn it in!  

  1. Participate in two shows during the 2018-2019 or 2019-2020 seasons

  2. Volunteer in our concession stand three times.

  3. Participate in any of our paid workshops! Cardboard Theatre and Audition workshops are a perfect way to qualify AND get ready for auditions.

  4. Pay a $50 joining fee.

3. When are auditions?

Auditions will be announced on the website as soon as we have dates. Keep checking back!

4. Am I guaranteed a part if I join Youth Guild?

Being in Youth Guild does not guarantee a part; however, all cast must be Youth Guild Members.

5.  Is there a fee to be in the Youth Guild Show?

 

  • There is no tuition to participate in the show; however, tickets to see the show will have a fee.

  • Costume/prop fee of $20 will be collected at the first rehearsal.

  • Actors may also be asked to provide costume pieces from their personal wardrobes. Cast members may be asked to contribute to a cast party or food for other events.

  • Parents may be asked to volunteer backstage, in concessions or with other duties

  •  adults volunteering backstage will be asked to submit to a background check which costs $13. 

 

6. When are rehearsals?

 

Schoolhouse Rock Live Jr. will have a read through and kickoff rehearsal on May 30- 9:00 a.m.-2:00 p.m.  Bring a peanut free sack lunch for this rehearsal. 

 

Regular rehearsals begin June 1

 

Schoolhouse Rock Live Jr. will rehearse Mondays, Wednesdays, and Fridays from 6:30-9:00 

 

***July 13-opening of the show will be full run throughs of the show and tech rehearsals during which time extra rehearsals in addition to these times may be called.

 

Midsummer Night’s Dream will rehearse Tuesdays and Thursdays 6:30-9:00 and Saturdays 2:00-5:00 

*** July 27-opening of the show  will be full run throughs of the show and tech rehearsals during which time extra rehearsals in addition to these times may be called.



 

7.  What if I have conflicts?

List conflicts on your audition form; please talk to the directors if you have questions or concerns on this.. 3 excused absences will be allowed per show in which you are participating. No absences will be excused during the last two weeks of rehearsals for each show. 

 

Schoolhouse Rock Live Jr: No excused absences after July 10th

 

Midsummer Night’s Dream: No excused absences after July 24th

 
8. What should I bring to rehearsal?

 

  • Clothes for moving

  • Closed toed shoes for movement

  • A water bottle labeled with your name (we will have water jugs for refills)

  • Your script with your name on it

  • A highlighter 

  • A pencil
